The California Wildfires that started January 7, 2025 have caused unprecedented devastation, including in Eaton Canyon. Am I eligible to submit a claim?
You may qualify to submit a claim if ANY of the following occurred:
- The place you were living in, whether you owned it or were renting, or the commercial property you owned, or rented from, burned down;
- The place you were living in, whether you owned it or were renting, or the commercial property you owned, or rented from, suffered damages from the fire, including partial damage, or if you suffered economic damages from having to clean up the property including from damage or ashes, and the air, to make the property safe to return to;
- You were forced to evacuate from the place you were living, or renting from;
- You suffered injury as a result of the fires, including from the fire, or while being forced to evacuate, including physical injury, emotional distress, post-traumatic stress disorder; and
- Your possessions were stolen after being forced to evacuate.
Does it matter that I don’t have fire insurance, or homeowners insurance, or rental insurance?

It does NOT matter if you do not have fire insurance, or homeowners insurance, or rental insurance. If the property you own, or rented from, including residential or commercial property, was damaged from the fires, or you were forced to evacuate, or if you suffered economic injuries from the evacuation and subsequent clean up of the property to make it safe to reside or work in again, you might have a claim.
